ABOUT THE ARTIST

Gerharts Glass Art was officially established in 1976. Founder, Russell Gerhart is a Media, PA-based artist. He enjoys working closely with clients to create glass art that is one of a kind. Something that adds brilliance and handsomeness to your space. His designs include Windows, Lamps, Mirrors, built to fit any situation. Copper Foil - Lead “Zinc” Copper or Brass Came. Among others he was commissioned to make windows for the movie set, “I’ll See You in the Morning.” In the 90's he taught stained glass at Main Line School Night and the Community Arts Center in Wallingford. In the past, his gifts and works have been displayed Quincy’s in Media, PA before their closing.

Russell working at his craft, tracing a template from his cartoon and then cutting the glass. This takes concentration, a solid will, and lots of hand strength. Once the glass is cut, the edges sanded, and cleaned the piece is ready to copper foil the edges. After that, soldering with a 60\40 mix and capping the piece with some lead came or copper channel. For completion he will clean the glass and put the desired patina on the finished design.
